Common questions
Can you use a card machine at an honesty box?
Card machines need power, a data connection and someone to operate them — impractical for an unattended stall. A QR code solves this: buyers scan a printed code with their own phone and pay instantly.
What does it cost?
Stripe always takes its standard rate, roughly 1.4% + 20p per UK transaction. On top of that, the Lite plan takes a 4% platform commission, while Grow takes 0% — you keep everything bar Stripe's fee.
Does it work for products priced by weight?
No — a QR code charges a fixed price the instant it's scanned, before anything's weighed. For meat or anything else priced per kg, use click & collect with a deposit instead.
